SuperSport and Pirates share the spoils

SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates shared the spoils in an entertaining DStv Premiership clash as they drew 1-1 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Wednesday evening.

‘The Buccaneers’ scored the first goal but an inch of sloppy defending awarded ‘Matsatsantsa’ a point.

The result was also a setback for both sides as the high-riding Mamelodi Sundowns at the summit of the log now have an opportunity to pull away from the chasing pack with their two games in hand.

With the draw, SuperSport closed the gap on Sundowns to three points and maintained their unbeaten at home this season.

Pirates took an early lead through Vincent Pule with Deon Hotto providing the assist. SuperSport found the equaliser in the 67th minute after Ben Motshwari’s desperate clearance from Gamphani Lungu’s shot ended up into his own net.

The Soweto giants remain fourth on the log with 29 points after 18 matches.

Meanwhile, earlier on today, TS Galaxy continued their good run of form in the DStv Premiership as they narrowly edged Bloemfontein Celtic 1-0 at the Mbombela Stadium.

Lindokuhle Mbatha scored the only goal of the game as the ‘Rockets’ claimed a third win from their last five matches.
