Hunt admits Chiefs have a good lead

Bidvest Wits mentor Gavin Hunt has conceded that the title race is as good as over with Kaizer Chiefs having made a blistering start in the Absa Premiership this season.

Hunt, who won the league title with the Clever Boys back in the 2016/2017 season, feels it would be difficult for the chasing pack to catch up with Amakhosi.

“They gonna have to blow it up hey (for any team to catch them) – it is a good lead, and obviously two or three teams are competing,” says Hunt.

“Well, SuperSport United are obviously not in Africa (so they can compete with Chiefs). Well, Sundowns and us, it is gonna be difficult to manage.”

Amakhosi currently top the Absa Premiership standings with 34 points with only just 13 games played which saw them pick up 11 wins in the process.

“What, they (Chiefs) got 34 points after 13 or 14 games… geez it is a good lead already you know it is gonna be difficult but nothing is done yet we are only halfway through the season,” concludes Hunt, whose side are fifth with 19 points from 9 games.

Wits have played 4 matches less than Chiefs, who are top with 34 points.
