Brazilian legend Pele has said that he is doing well following surgery for a suspected colon tumor.
In a message posted on Instagram on Wednesday Pele said, “I am recovering well.”
The surgery was performed on Saturday in Sao Paulo. And according to the hospital where Pele is getting treated, the former star was recovering in an intensive care unit.
But in an update on Wednesday, the hospital did not clarify whether he was still in that unit.
The Albert Einstein Hospital stated that Pele’s tumor was detected during routine tests. This is the same hospital Pele has undergone treatment since 31 August.
Pele, who is the only player in history to win three Fifa World Cups (1958, 1962 and 1970), has been sick for a few years now and has had several spells in hospital, most recently.
