Cape Town City have their backs against the wall in the Absa Premiership this season.
However, the Citizens head coach Jan Olde Riekerink insists there’s enough quality within the squad to turn things around despite enduring a poor start in his coaching career at City.
City lost 2-0 to Bidvest Wits at Dobsonville Stadium on Friday night and lie in 13th spot halfway into the season.
They’ve played 5 matches and lost 3 games while scoring just 1 goal in the process under the guidance of the Dutch coach, but Riekerink says it’s still early to push the panic buttons though he admits January will be crucial for the Citizens.
“We have 6 matches (in January)… I believe in the qualities of the players ,” he says.
“I don’t doubt the quality of my players. So again January we play 6 games we start with 2 home games and we have to be ready,” stated the mentor.
The former Galatasaray and Ajax Amsterdam coach was brought in early last Month to replace Benni McCarthy who was sacked following a run of poor results.
