Thibang Phete has revived his career in Portugal after moving from top flight side Famalicao to Belenenses where he has since established himself as a regular in the squad.
His versatility has been a major advantage for him as be can play as a centre back, a right back and as a holding midfielder. The move from Famalicao has yielded positive results as he has earned a permanent starting berth in the team throughout the season winning several Man of the Match awards during the season.
With the season nearing its return, the defender wants to continue where he left off last season. “My target for this season is the same. Personally I wanna continue where I left off and keep learning so getting a lot of game time that I lost the past 2-3 years with a knee injury is being regained so I’m just enjoying every moment and learning because there is always space for improvement.
“My team goals at the moment are just to keep going, we are only two weeks into pre-season and now the team is focused on gelling together and improving.”
Phete is a product of the Stars of Africa Academy. He moved to Portugal at the age of 19 playing for clubs like Famalicao and Vitoria Guimaraes before joining SAD Belenenses.
