Joe Aribo says he wants to continue playing a vital role for Glasgow Rangers this season.
On Sunday, the Nigerian midfielder won the Man of the Match award after scoring a beautiful goal in Rangers’ 2-1 victory against Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership.
The league has entered the second and final phase of the season with the top six teams facing each other in the Championship round which will determine who finishes in the continental spots.
It’s been a good season for the 24-year-old who has scored seven goals and assisted another four strikes in the process.
Speaking to the club’s website, Aribo says he is always pleased to register his name on the scoresheet and hopes to continue helping the team.
“It has been a long time coming. I want to keep scoring goals in every single game I play so I’m happy for myself that I could get the opening goal for the team. It is a nice finish, I just watched it from Sky and I took my time to finish it.
“We go into every single game knowing what we want to do. We want to get the three points, we want to put out a good performance and that’s what we tried to do.
“We stayed strong, stayed together, kept fighting, kept pushing and we were able to get the three points at the end.”
He has also played a vital role to help the Nigeria national team qualify for the 2021 Afcon. Coach Gernot Rohr recruited the midfielder to play for Nigeria and he has established himself as a regular member of the national team.
Rangers have already clinched the title, but a strong finish to the season will boost their confidence moving forward. On Saturday, Gerrard’s side will host their local rivals Glasgow Celtic in the Scottish Cup.
