FARPost.co.za caught up with South African rising star Siyabonga Ligendza who is going through the ranks at Cardiff City who play in the English Championship.

The teenager is currently playing for Cardiff’s youth side.

Almost every footballer has an idol and when Ligendza was asked about this, the striker who hails from MaMakapanstad in Limpopo replied, “Definitely has to be Ronaldinho (the Brazilian). I mean he was unbelievable on the ball and played with such skill and flair so for me he is the one person I idolize in football”.

With Ligendza already playing with the U18 and U23s of the club at such a tender age of 16, the player is determined to make history and join a few teenagers who have broken into the first team at such a young age and the striker shared his short-term ambitions saying, “My main target now is to get my first professional contract with the club and hopefully push to be a permanent figure in the U23 side because now I’m playing for both the 18s and 23s so if I can play for the 23s permanently you never know what might come after”.

Ligendza was born in England but went on to live in both South Africa and Wales so he qualifies to play for a few countries with his mother a South African and his father German.

So he actually qualifies to play for four nations so we asked him about his international aspirations and he exclusively told us,  “I want to play for South Africa there is no two ways about it so hopefully I will get that opportunity one day”.
