The KZN academy has produced tons of young players to the Portuguese leagues over the past five years and one of those players is striker Sibusiso Shibane who is currently in the books of third division side Agueda.
Shibane initially joined Vitoria Setubal playing with their U-19 development side before moving to Portimonense where he featured mainly with the U-23 side.
This season the striker moved to the lower tiers of Portugal in search of regular first team football and Agueda recruited him.
Speaking about his prospects for the coming season Shibane feels he needs to prove his worth in front of goal by banging in the goals.
“I want to score probably 10 or more goals for the season because during the preseason games I have been scoring goals in every game,” said the man from Mtubatuba.
Speaking of the main reason he chose the Agueda project Shibane explained saying: “It’s all about game time and scoring goals, so for me moving to Àgueda was a good move because I told myself that I want to have one good season and get as much game as possible. Every striker wants to contribute by scoring goals which is happening for me right now and things are going well – I’m ready for the season to start, I’m ready to fight, he concluded
Shibane has represented South Africa at U-20 level and went through the ranks at KZN Academy before moving abroad two and a half years ago.
