South Africa’s Under-23 national team head coach David Notoane says he will continue to evaluate the players until he has the final squad to participate in Tokyo Olympics Games.
Notoane announced his 40-man Olympics preliminary squad on Thursday at SAFA House.
This prestigious tournament is set to start from 23 July 2021 to the 8th of August after it was delayed by a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The mentor will select his final 22 players from his 40-member preliminary squad to feature in the Olympics competition.
“I will continue to assess the players until we have the final 22,’’ said Notoane.
The Under-23 preliminary squad is said to continue with their preparations in due course.
“The aim is to continue the performance assessment of the selected players based on continuity and need to strengthen the team for the final selection,” he added.
The countdown to the Tokyo Olympics Games begins now with only 100 days left.
