It is a sad day for South African football fraternity, with the passing of the former Richards Bay coach, Ian Palmer.
The cause of the death of the well-travelled mentor is yet known at this moment.
Palmer, who hails from Riverlea, played as a striker for Orlando Pirates until his career was cut short by a kidney ailment. He has since managed teams in both the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and the National First Division.
Some of the teams that the 55-year-old coached are Super Eagles, Mthata Bucks, Chippa United, Santos, Black Leopards, Blackburn Rovers, United FC, African Warriors, Maritzburg United and served as assistant coach at Orlando Pirates back in 2008.
Palmer was without a club when he met his untimely death.
