TS Galaxy striker Mohammed Anas believes he has what it takes to walk away with the DStv Premiership Golden Boot this season.
Anas recently joined Galaxy from the relagated Black Leopards and the Ghanaian hitman is yet to hit the 10-goal mark in a in a single Premiership season since arriving in South Africa back in 2014.
But that below par statistic for a striker hasn’t stopped Anas from reaching for the stars with Galaxy as his target for the new season is to score 15 goals.
“That is my aim since I came to South Africa.I think I’m capable of winning the Golden Boot. If you check from 2016 the top scorer in the league has managed 15, 13 or 12 goals,” said Anas.
His best tally is eight goals, which he netted in the 2018/19 campaign in the colours of Polokwane City.
Overall, Anas has managed to score 32 goals in 90 appearances in South Africa’s top-flight. He has also turned out for Maritzburg United and Free State Stars.
“Being around coach Shaun [Bartlett] is beneficial and my target for this season is to score 15 goals and that is what I am working towards,” he added.
Anas is in line to make his debut for the Rockets’ in a league game against Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday.
“It has been great and marvellous being around all these guys here.
“We are like a family and that is what we need. With the previous teams that I have been with we were short of these kinds of things. I think here the unity is massive so that is great,” concluded Anas.
