Danish attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen has expressed his gratitude for all the messages he has received after suffering a cardiac arrest this past Saturday during their Euro 2020 opener against Finland and says he is “fine, under the circumstances”.
The 29-year-old was given emergency CPR on the pitch after collapsing just five minutes before the half-time break.
Doctor Morten Boesen said that Eriksen was “gone”, but the swift intervention of Simon Kjaer and medical staff saved his life.
The Inter Milan player has now addressed the public for the first time since the incident via a tweet from the Danish FA’s account, which read: “Hello everyone. Big thanks for your sweet and amazing greetings and messages from all around the world. It means a lot to me and my family.
“I’m fine – under the circumstances. I still have to go through some examinations at the hospital, but I feel okay.
