Newly signed Black Leopards striker Thobani Mncwango says he is looking forward to a healthy competition with last season’s top goalscorer, Mwape Musonda.
Mncwango was signed last week alongside former Bidvest Wits teammate, Edwin Gyimah.
Cementing a place in Lidoda Duvha’s side will not come easy for the 29-year-old who will be fighting for a position with Zambian international Musonda, as well as former Zimbabwean international Cuthbert Malajila.
Mncwango says having the three of them is a bonus for Limpopo side.
“My aim here is the team first then Thobani after, so if there is competition then it will be a healthy one and I think it will help the team because for me I’m not here to compete with anyone but I am here to help the team,” Mncwango told FARPost.co.za.
“Yes, they are doing well especially upfront and I think they also signed me because they knew I can add value because the season is long and there are injuries and fatigue and players can be off form so I think the team will be balanced.
“But I am not here to compete with anyone. I think I have a different style of play compared to Musonda and Malajila. But I know for sure all of us we are quality strikers so it’s going to be a good one for the team.”
The former Baroka and Polokwane City striker is in line to make his debut when Lidoda Duvha travel to Pretoria to take on SuperSport United on Friday night.
