After a successful first season in Europe with AGF Aarhus South African winger Gift Links took time out to reflect on his exploits for the season.
Links is over the moon after a top 3 finish in the Danish Superliga and securing a Europa League qualification spot for next season.
“We really had a good season after a very long time you know, it’s been over 20 years since AGF won a medal and I am super proud to be part of this great group of players you know – we fought till the end and we managed to get something out of it,” Links told FARPost.
Finishing third on the log meant that Aarhus will have to go to a Europa league qualifiers spot final with Odense BK which they won 2-1 to ensure they participate in the 2020/21 UEFA Europa League qualifiers.
“We haven’t made it yet to Europa remember we have to play qualifiers first and what I know is that we will take it one game at the time – we are going to fight till the end, to be honest.” said the 21-year-old.
Asked about his personal targets Links downplayed focusing on individual focus but rather focus on the club’s goals moving forward.
“The team’s targets come first you know, but personally my target for next season is to see myself scoring and assisting goals as much as I can so I just have to work on my numbers and consistency with my performances,” he concluded
Since his move from Cape Town City last season, Links has played in 8 games in the league assisting just once while winning two man of the match awards for his contribution towards the end of the season for Aarhus.
