AmaZulu edged SuperSport United 1-0 courtesy of a Siphelele Mthembu goal in an exciting Dstv Premiership encounter played at the Kings Park Stadium on Tuesday.

Mthembu put Usuthu ahead in the 24th minute after being set up by former Orlando Pirates striker, Augustine Mulenga.

The Zambian international worked his magic on the left wing, taking on defenders before setting up Mthembu who coolly slotted past Ronwen Williams.

The hosts had started the tie like a house on fire, pressing the visitors from the onset until it paid off before the half hour mark.

Matsatsantsa lacked the urgency and never really showed intent after the break, finding it difficult to build momentum.

Mthembu could have doubled the lead in the second half after receiving a cut-back from close range but he scuffed his shot wide.

Talent Chawapiwa also had a wonderful chance to kill the game as a contest for AmaZulu in the last two minutes after going clear on goal but his volley went wide.

Usuthu, however, held on to cement sixth spot on the log.
