The first annual Sidney Moshikaro foundation soccer tournament took place this past weekend at Golden Sweepers Ground in Mokopane, Limpopo.
Moshikaro, who is a former Dynamos, Ria Stars and Kaizer Chiefs forward, launched the tournament last week.
Amongst those in attendance were friends and former professional players Thapelo Liau, Jacky Ledwaba, Japie Motale and Jacky Motshegwa.
Mogalakwena United were crowned Champions after beating Driving FC 1-0 in the final.
“It was a success; I am happy with how things went. The turnout was brilliant and the teams were competitive so overall I am happy,” said Moshikaro.
“Next year we are going to see big things all the way from the under 12s up until the senior teams. So, this is the beginning as we all know that Mokopane is the hub of football and we intend to take this tournament to greater heights,” he added.
Other teams that participated include Tau Tau FC (Ga-Dikgale), Shining Stars (Mogalakwena), Majita FC (Mogalakwena), Doc United (Polokwane), Cash 11 (Mamelodi) and Vultures (Sekgapepeng).
