Chippa United chairman Siviwe Mpengesi says anyone interested in the club’s head coach Norman Mapeza will have to fork out R20 million.
The usually trigger-happy Mpengesi says Mapeza who has transformed the Port Elizabeth-based club since his arrival is protected by the contract that they have in place.
Speaking to Robert Marawa on ‘Marawa Sports Worldwide’ radio show, Mpengesi said the previous coaches were fired at the club for failing to live up to expectations.
Asked what would it take to get the Zimbabwean out of Chippa, Mpengesi said R20 million would do.
“Coaches must not be afraid of being fired,” he said.
“They must trust players. Coach Mapeza is protected, even if we want to fire him, it won’t be easy. I’m happy (he) did that but also, he must pay us a lot of money. If another club wants to take Norman they must come with a big bag of cash.
“Currently Norman is one of the top coaches, he is the Pitso (Mosimane) of Zimbabwe…for the first time we have a coach who has achieved five clean sheets.”
