Ncobeni linked with Royal AM exit as potential destination emerges

Royal AM midfielder Jabulani Ncobeni has been linked with exit and a potential new destination emerges in the DStv Premiership.

The 31-year-old’s contract is set to expire at the conclusion of the current season, and this website understands he’s not likely to continue with the club.

Ncobeni has been with Royal AM since they acquired the top-flight status in 2021 from Bloemfontein Celtic. He was part of the Siwelele team that moved from Free State province to KwaZulu-Natal in 2021. He had spent one season with Celtic after signing on a free transfer at the beginning of the season from AmaZulu FC.

The former Thanda Royal Zulu man has seen limited playing time this season under coach John Maduka, managing only six appearances across all competitions.

According to FARPost sources, Ncobeni is on top of the wish list of the relegation-threatened Richards Bay, who are desperately hoping to retain their DStv Premiership status for next season.

Vusumuzi Vilakazi’s troops hold a six-point advantage over 16th-placed Cape Town Spurs, with Royal AM and Moroka Swallows just ahead at 29 points each.

OTHER PLAYERS WITH EXPIRING CONTRACTS AT ROYAL AM

The futures of Thabo Matlaba and Menzi Masuku are also unclear at AM as they haven’t received contract extensions.

As previously reported by this publication, Shane Roberts, who hasn’t played a single match since joining in 2022, will be leaving the club upon his contract expiry in June.

Moreover, Royal AM have already lost Shaune Mogaila who left in the midseason after the two parties couldn’t agree on the extension of the contract.
