US based midfielder Lebogang Moloto has described the current COVID-19 situation in the United States of America as terrifying.
Moloto currently plays for USL Championship side FC Tulsa which is based in the state of Oklahoma.
There have been over 1 000 cases of people infected by the corona-virus in that region but the Chebeng-born midfielder tells FARPost that he and his family are safe so far.
“It is terrifying. If you are not terrified then I don’t know. People are dying! That should be terrifying. Just because it does not affect you personally that doesn’t mean you should care less but so we are safe as far as we know,” He said.
The 29-year-old moved from Nashville SC at the end of last season where he made over 65 appearances.
The former SA U17 player also spoke about facing African football Legend Didier Drogba whom he faced while he was still playing for Phoenix Rising.
“Well, I am glad to have not faced a younger Drogba (laughs) but I played against him twice. We have talked after one of the games and he kind of gave me words of encouragement. Keep pushing and always represent. Great ambassador in terms of doing his outmost to give back to his community and country. I get some of my motivation from people like him.”
Moloto who moved to the US in 2009 has an annual youth Soccer Charity Tournament that is hosted in Chebeng, a village outside Polokwane, every December aimed at promoting education and health through the power of sports.
