David Luiz said that he was to blame for Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City at Etihad Stadium on Wednesday evening in what was the second Premier League (PL) match after the coronavirus enforced break.
Luiz, who was brought on as a substitute in the 24th minute following an injury to Pablo Mari, shouldered the blame as his error led to Raheem Sterling’s opening goal in first-half stoppage time.
Four minutes into the second-half, the Brazilian defender was shown a red card for fouling Riyad Mahrez inside the penalty area and Kevin De Bruyne made no mistake from the spot to make it 2-0 before Phil Foden fired in the third goal in stoppage time to seal victory for Man City at home.

“Different decision to try and decide my future as early as possible but I didn’t. I don’t want to use that as an excuse, it was my fault and that is it.
“I love to be here that is why I continue to train hard and that is why I came today. Nobody asked me to speak, it is up to me to show my face. I want to stay. The coach knows and wants me to stay, we are waiting for the decisions,” added the former Chelsea star.
"It's not the teams fault, it was my fault."
David Luiz accepted responsibility for Arsenal's defeat at Manchester City, adding that he wants to stay at the club and Mikel Arteta 'wants me to stay'.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta commented on Luiz’s performance and said: “He is someone that is very honest and straight forward. My opinion on David Luiz hasn’t changed. It won’t change because he had a difficult performance tonight.”
While Man City coach Pep Guardiola spoke about the ‘take a knee’ protest before their game against Arsenal.
“White people should say sorry for the way we have treated black people for 400 years,” he said. “I am ashamed.”

"I'm embarrassed, I'm ashamed of what white people have done to black people."
