It’s been a good few years for me – Christos Retsos

With the number of young South African players going through different Leagues in Europe, FARPost caught up with another youngster who is already competing in the Greek top division after having made his senior debut at the age of 18 last year.

Christos Retsos is a central midfielder who plays for Panionios and the teenager took time out to tell FARPost about his journey

“Coming from South Africa, I am a product of Mpumalanga Black Aces academy which is now Alaxandra Black Aces in Johannesburg where I was developed there from early childhood until the age of 14. So, I Am grateful for the contribution they had in my life, I was there all my life so the club will always have a special place in my heart,” said Retsos.

“I moved when I was 14-years-old in 2016 it was quite a tiring process I was up and down until I permanently found a team here in 2017 and I’ve been here ever since I’ve been really enjoying myself from development to the senior team now where I currently play.”

Since making his debut at the end of last year the 18-year-old has featured three times for the senior team including a substitute appearance against giants Panathanaikos as continues to gain more experience playing against some of the leagues best players.

FARPost will be keeping tabs on the midfielder’s progress in Europe as he continues his journey with Panionios Athens .
