With only a day left before the Nedbank Cup last 32 Limpopo derby against Baroka, Polokwane City coach Clinton Larsen says the current situation takes him back to his days at Chippa United.
Larsen was in charge at the Chilli Boys when they reached the semi-finals of the same competition last season while they were also fighting to save their Absa Premiership status.
Rise and Shine begin their Nedbank Cup journey against Bakgaga at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday at 19:30.
“This just reminds me of a similar situation last season when I arrived at Chippa, similar position in the league and we basically used the Cup to get some momentum and it really helped us,” Larsen told reporters in Polokwane on Monday.
“We are definitely the underdogs looking at the log positions of the 2 teams but I think we will use that to our advantage,” he added.
The two teams will know their last 16 opponents tonight when the round of 16 draw takes place at 19:30.
