Jane’s Milan through to Italian Cup Semis

It was a good weekend for most of Mzansi’s footballers abroad.

Thembi Kgatlana scored another goal in Spain while Refiloe Jane helped AC Milan move closer to getting some silverware.

THEMBI KGATLANA & NOKO MATLOU

Both South Africans were named in the starting line-up by coach Dorronsoro as Eibar travelled to Tenerife.

Kgatlana scored her 9th goal of the season in the Primera Division, but it wasn’t enough to help the visitors avoid a 2-1 defeat.

Noko Matlou was sent off in the first half of the game which helped Tenerife get back in the game and win.

REFILOE JANE

Jane lasted 67 minutes for AC Milan as they progressed to the semis of the Italian Cup after the second leg of the tie ended 0-0.

The Rossoneri progress through the away goal rule having scored already in the 1-1 away draw in the first leg.

MIHLALI MAYAMBELA & THABO CELE

Both South Africans were involved as Academica Coimbra hosted Cova di Piedade in the Portuguese Segunda Liga. The hosts won 2-1 on the day to extend their lead at the top of the table and keep their automatic promotion hopes alive.

LIAM JORDAN

The 22-year-old made his debut for Helsingor as they defeated Kolding IK 2-0 in the Danish 1st Division on Friday evening.

GIFT LINKS

Links was given yet another start for AGF Aarhus and lasted 75 minutes in their 0-0 away draw against Odense.

KOBAMELO KODISANG

The Platinum Stars graduate played 90 minutes for SC Braga B as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Merelinense on Sunday afternoon.

SPHEPHELO SITHOLE & THIBANG PHETE

Sithole played 89 minutes and won the Man of the Match award as Belenenses drew 0-0 with Famalicao on Friday evening.

Phete also started and was replaced in the 75th minute of the game against his former club.

THULANI SERERO

Serero played 63 very crucial minutes before being taken off in Al Jazira’s 6-0 hammering of Al-Ittihad Kalba on Sunday afternoon.

ROWAN HUMAN

The former Amajita captain was pulling the strings in the middle of the part for Beitar Tel Aviv as they drew 2-2 with Hapoel Rishon LeZion on Friday night.

DARREN SMITH 

The striker started again for FC Honka as they defeated Haka 1-0 in the Finish Cup.

This was Smith’s second start since joining the club from Ikenas at the beginning of this season.
