Former Orlando Pirates striker Jerry Sikhosana has purchased Gauteng-based ABC Motsepe League outfit, Blue Lions.
The 51-year-old retired footballer has revealed his reason to buy the ABC League side from a family of the former Benoni Premier United boss Dumisani Ndlovu.
“I got it from the family of the late Mr Ndlovu, because they couldn’t continue with the team after his passing,” confirmed Sikhosana.
The legend has spent his time sharpening the football skills of young boys in Tembisa after retiring. The purchase of the club came with great intent as developing youngsters is Sikhosana’s forte.
Lions are facing the risk of being relegated, but the legend has made an assurance that relegation might loom but they have all it takes to avoid it. The side currently sit 8th in Stream A log standings with 4 points from 9 outings.
“We are trying to avoid relegation for now and just save the status, and then we’ll start the team from scratch,” adds the club’s new owner.
“They were struggling a bit but at least now I’ve roped in some of the young boys that I trust and with five games left I hope I can save the team from relegation.”
‘Legs of Thunder,’ as he is popularly known, is an ambitious coach with intentions to see the club competing at the highest level in the DStv Premiership one of the good days.
