Ex Jomo Cosmos defender Andrew ‘Jaws of Life’ Rabutla has expressed his concerns on the reports that his former club is failing to pay salaries.
Cosmos have been in the news for the wrong reasons for the last few years due to their inability to pay some of their playing personnel.
Rabutla, who had two stints as a player at Ezenkosi, is convinced his former boss is struggling financially.
“For me I think the team is struggling a little bit financially,” Rabutla told FARPost.
“We got relegated so many times but Jomo (Sono) was not even cutting salaries for the players, he was paying according to PSL (Absa Premiership) contracts. So I think the team is struggling there is no money there,” he said.
“Jomo used to respect players and I don’t remember one player during our time going to the media complaining about unpaid salaries but why now? Why suddenly now? It shows the team does not have money.
“We just pray that the team must survive and we will see next season. If it is difficult Jomo must just sell some shares to help the team survive,” added Rabutla.
The 48-year-old also served as the team manager at Cosmos from 2007 until 2015.
