Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies’ impressive 27-match winning run has ended as they were held to an entertaining 2-2 draw by newcomers JVW Girls at Tsakane Stadium on Saturday afternoon in the Hollywoodbets Super League.
Chuene Morifi put Sundowns Ladies ahead in the early stages of the match before the experienced Banyana Banyana international Nompumelelo Nyandeni pulled JVW even in the 29th minute.
The Tshwane giants’ defence were found wanting again as JVW took the lead just after the halftime break through Isabella Ludwig.
However, Sundowns scored the equaliser a few minutes later via a Boitumelo Daweti cracker with the inaugural Safa National Women’s League, now called the Super League dropping points and conceding more than once in a match for the first time in the league.
