Ex Kaizer Chiefs striker, Kaizer Motaung Junior felt it was imperative to remind the players and the supporters that Amakhosi might be in the league driver’s seat but haven’t won anything yet.
“Nothing has been won and I think that’s a very important message that we have to give to our players and remind yourselves.”
“The team has done very well, they’ve had a great start but it is only halfway – it is a journey, it is a marathon
not a sprint.
“Last year has been forgotten and there are lessons we learnt for the past four years (during which time Chiefs have failed to win silverware). I think we are on the right track but then again focus is vital because we have great challenges from teams like Mamelodi Sundowns, SuperSport (United) and Bidvest Wits who are playing very well,” said Motaung Junior on the SABC Morning Live Show.
Log leaders Chiefs are enjoying a 6-point advantage over the defending champions, Sundowns.
“Whether is a 4 points difference or 10 points, what counts is the end of May so I think the concentration and focus and also the maturity and experience that the players have is all taken through but at the end of the of the day the most important thing in football is you’ve always got to be focused,” added Motaung Junior.
The last time Kaizer Chiefs won the league was during the 2014/15 season.
