Kalou keen on a move to MLS

Ivory Coast forward Salomon Kalou says he is interested in making the move to the Major League Soccer (MLS) in the USA.

The Hertha Berlin player was talking on The Crack Podcast where he made a guest appearance.

“I (would) always love to play in the MLS. That’s something I always look forward to, I have to see if there is opportunity there to play,” Kalou told the show.

Kalou said it’s something that has actually been on his mind for a while and he was close to joining the San Jose Earthquakes two years ago, but ultimately decided to stay in Europe for a little longer.

“I was close to go to San Jose. I talked to them, I think it was two years ago. I wanted to stay in Europe for another two years, that’s why I didn’t go then,” he said, adding later: “I’m ready for MLS”

The 34-year-old has scored 36 English Premier League goals for Chelsea from 2006-2012 and netted 30 times in 67 games playing for Ligue 1 side Lille from 2012-2014.

He’s been in the Bundesliga with Hertha since then, scoring 47 times in 148 appearances.

Kalou has also been a mainstay on the international stage for the Ivory Coast since 2007, scoring 28 goals while racking up 97 senior caps.
