Free State’s newly promoted ABC Motsepe League side Mathaithai FC were blessed with the presence of the former SuperSport United and Bafana Bafana defender Ricardo Katza.
Katza paid the Mangaung-based outfit a special visit to give the entire team an inspirational talk ahead of the 2020/21 ABC Motsepe League campaign.
“The club would like to thank Ricardo Katza for visiting the team and giving out an inspirational talk to the whole team. The team truly learned a lot from him, and believe the wisdom he shared with the team will be a stepping stone to the right direction as we are an ambitious team,” said Mathaithai in a statement.
The chairman of the club Sipho Gxilisha has also assured the supporters that they will not make too many changes from the squad that took the club into the third tier of the South African footballing structure.
“We have kept over 96% of our playing squad as we believe in our own talent and very confident that they will compete and deliver in this new challenge, consistency is very key. We have beefed up here and there to have a balanced and competitive team,” says Gxilisha.
“Coach Festy Lothane will remain the head coach working hand in hand with Coach Tshasa Makoloi, Mr Stone Leballo and Goalkeeper coach from TS Galaxy, Lesebeditse Matona.
“We started with Nedbank Cup in ABC Motsepe League and we are the Provincial overall winners and left with two games against SAB league teams to qualify for Nedbank national last 32 teams. Up to so far we are happy and very proud of the Boys, the technical team and the working force personnel.
“However positive results will not make us relax and forget our goals but it will serve as a motivation going forward. ABC Motsepe League is very tough but we will compete and take one game at a time.”
