The decorated Sundowns skipper is no stranger to the Fifa goal of the year award‚ having previously been nominated as a finalist in 2016.
He was then nominated alongside the likes of Neymar and Lionel Messi for the beautiful goal he scored for Bafana Bafana against Cameroon in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier in Limbe in March 2016.
The Best Fifa Football Awards 2020 will take place on 17 December. Kekana this time around has been nominated alongside 10 other players for this year’s award, including Atlético Madrid striker Luis Suarez, and Tottenham Hotspur forward Heung-min Son.
“The winner of the Fifa Puskas Award will be selected by an international jury comprising a panel of Fifa legends and by the fans from all over the world registered on Fifa.com,” said Fifa in an official statement.
“Each of the two groups of voters within the jury has the same electoral weight.”
