With the masses having described the final as a ‘Mamelodi Sundowns Final’, midfielder Hlompho Kekana begs to differ and believes no-one can write off Maritzburg United in tonight’s Telkom Knockout final.
The Limpopo-born footballer has stated that the team is very well aware of Maritzburg’s recent form that has seen the KwaZulu Natal win six, draw three and lose just one of their last 10 in all competitions.
“Well, Maritzburg is a very dangerous team at the moment, which is something that we have to be concerned about as a team,” Kekana says.
“They are a team that is high on confidence so expect anything so you must really go there with huge respect because they’ve been doing very well for themselves and you can see where they are at the moment.
“We just wanna make sure that we contain a few of their players, because they are high on confidence and obviously try score goals.”
The very last time Sundowns lifted a domestic cup was in 2015 in the TKO tournament and they would look to improve that record this Saturday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Kick-off at 18h00.
