Black Leopards head coach Dylan Kerr hailed his side’s resilience after their 2-0 win against Orlando Pirates in the DStv Premiership clash at Thohoyandou Stadium on Sunday.
The hard-fought victory moves the Limpopo-based outfit to 13th place on the Premier Soccer League (PSL) log standings.
Meanwhile, the Sea Robbers remain fifth on the table following their disappointing defeat.
“Getting maximum points is what we needed. I have always said from day one that if we keep the ball moving, keep position and rotate the ball then nobody can touch us,” Kerr said in a post-match interview.
“Fortunately in this game, we stepped back and given the position away. However, when we did that we defended as a unity as we practiced on Wednesday because we knew how they were going to play. They came inside, did the overlaps, and did everything which was asked of them and it was pleasing.”
A win against the Buccaneers ended Lidoda Duvha’s five-match winless run in the PSL.
Leopards will be hoping to keep their fine form as they welcome Cape Town City on Wednesday, 20 January 2021 at Thohoyandou Stadium. The kick-off is set for 17:00 in the afternoon.
“I’m just pleased the boys managed to keep a clean sheet against a good team like Pirates,” says Kerr in his closing remarks.
