KEY BATTLES: Highlands Park v Kaizer Chiefs

This afternoon sees Highlands Park welcome Kaizer Chiefs to Makhulong Stadium (15:00).

But there will be nothing friendly about this Nedbank Cup Last 16 encounter.

With a quarterfinal spot at stake, FARPost’s Tiyani wa ka Mabasa looks at some interesting battles to look out for in this match.

Peter Shalulile v Daniel Cardoso

“I’m a defender and I have to make sure I shut him out,” said Cardoso this week.

Cardoso will have to risk it all. If he gets booked he will miss the Soweto Derby clash against nemesis Orlando Pirates, because he’s on three yellow cards. “If I get booked, I get booked,” said the centre-back.

The message to Shalulile is therefore loud and clear; bring it on!!!

Limbikani Mzava v Samir Nurkovic

Not an easy fight for either player. Expect Castro to leave Mzava with battle scars, but the same goes for the Serbian, who will be in for a tough fight from the Malawian. To Nurkovic’s advantage is his willingnesss to fight for the full 90 minutes (in this case it could even be 120 minutes since it’s a cup clash).
