Kgoloko Thobejane set for Baroka return

It seems as if Baroka chairman Khurishi Mphahlele and former coach Kgoloko Thobejane have smoked a peace pipe with the coach set for a return to the club.

Mphahlele and Thobejane are set to meet on Monday to negotiate his return, possibly for the DStv Diski Challenge coaching role.

Thobejane was in charge at Bakgaga when they gained promotion to the top division in 2016. But his relationship with Mphahlele turned sour in 2018 after he was fired for ‘misconduct’.

Mphahlele offered Thobejane his job back in 2020 but the former school teacher refused. But it seems as if Thobejane has finally changed his mind.

This comes as Mphahlele told guests at a family wedding in Polokwane on Saturday that he wants Thobejane back in the club with immediate effect.

The announcement was met with jubilation from Thobejane himself, current head coach Matsimela Thoka and the rest of the guests.

When contacted by FARPost on Sunday, Mphahlele confirmed that the club is set to meet Thobejane on Monday to finalise an agreement.

“Yes, we are meeting tomorrow (Monday). If we agree then he (Thobejane) will start working,” said Mphahlele.

This publication also contacted Thobejane for a comment but couldn’t talk as he was in a meeting.
