Kobedi ‘enjoying every minute’ at TS Sporting

On loan TS Sporting defensive midfielder Shadrack Kobedi says he is enjoying his time, on and off the pitch, in Mpumalanga and gelling nicely with his teammates.

Kobedi is on loan at Sporting in the GladAfrica Championship from Bloemfontein Celtic and has already played 10 games for ‘Abantu Bemthetho’ in all competitions since arriving in January.

Affectionately known in football circles as ‘Shedo’, Kobedi was the captain and one of Celtic’s standout players when ‘Siwelele’ clinched the Multichoice Diski Challenge (MDC) in 2019.

As a result of his impressive performances in the reserve side, Kobedi was promoted to the Celtic first team but struggled for some game time as he only made three Absa Premiership appearances after being handed a debut against Mamelodi Sundowns. Picture: Bloem Celtic/Twitter.

“I am enjoying my stay and every minute here at TS Sporting. I’m happy to be back at training after 3 months without kicking the ball or training as a group,” said Kobedi.

“But what is important is that we are well aware about Coronavirus, it is important that we keep on wearing our mask, sanitise and keep social distancing at all times.

“During the lockdown, we were using virtual training apps to keep fit. I think it’s been long overdue that we’ve been waiting to train again. As a team we are ready to play again as our last game was against my parent team Bloemfontein Celtic back in March in the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, The Mpulamanga-based side has announced the signing of former Amavarara FC centre-back, Sapholwethu Kelepu on a 3-year deal. Amavavarara are an Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe League side.

“The young defender has signed 3-year contract. Sapholwethu is a young man from Ezibeleni in Queenstown. Welcome home Sapholwethu,” reads the Sporting statement.
