Kobamelo Kodisang has been named in the Campeonato de Portugal Team of the Season.
The 21-year-old has had an impressive campaign in the colours of Braga B who finished at the top of their pool in Portugal’s third division.
Kodisang has netted nine league goals in 20 appearances so far this season. He has an opportunity to reach double digits when the promotion play-offs start this coming Saturday.
In the play-offs, Braga have been drawn in group A alongside Anadia, Trofense and Pevidem who will also be fighting for promotion to the second division.
Coach David Notoane has also named the former Platinum Stars youngster in his preliminary squad for the upcoming Olympics scheduled to take place in Japan from July 23 to August 8.
This was the attacker’s third season in the Campeonato and after a scintillating 2020/21 campaign, he will be eager to play regular senior football in the Primeira Liga. He was previously in the books of A.D Sanjoanense where he scored four goals in 23 league appearances before signing a long-term deal with Braga.
Should he make the final U23 squad, it will be the winger’s fifth major tournament in the colours of the national team. He was part of the team that went to the 2015 U17 Fifa World Cup, the 2017 U20 World Cup, the 2019 U20 World Cup and most recently he was part of the U23 team that qualified for the Tokyo Olympics after a third place finish in the 2019 U23 Africa Cup of Nations.
