Golden Arrows head coach Steve Komphela has opened up about the situation of one of his star players who has been heavily linked with a move away from the club.
Abafana Bes’thende hitman Lerato Lamola has reportedly signed a pre-contract agreement to join Highlands Park, a decision that allegedly infuriated the Arrows management which saw the player being left out of the team.
Komphela has played down such talks and cited Knox Mutizwa’s red hot form and Lamola’s injuries as the reason why the 33-year-old striker has been left out of the squad.
“Lerato Lamola had been on and off also with an injury… he had to come back it was difficult, based on how we play as well we’ve got so many strikers we sitting on about seven strikers and Knox Mutizwa has been doing extremely well,” said the former Bafana Bafana captain.
“Now you are playing with two number 10’s Lindokuhle Mtshali and Ntsako Makhubela, we also have Seth Parusnath so it’s just a question of selection,” Komphela concluded.
