Kudus shines on Ajax Amsterdam return

Mohammed Kudus scored on his return from injury.

The Ajax Amsterdam midfielder returned to action for the first time in weeks and managed to register his name on the score sheet as the Dutch champions defeated Fortuna Sittard 5-0 in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Kudus came on as a second-half substitute and scored in the 72nd minute as Ajax ran riot to continue their good start to the 2021/22 campaign.

The 21-year-old had a brilliant pre-season, but he was unfortunate to pick up an injury in the last friendly before the start of the new term.

It is his second goal in four days, having scored for Ajax’s reserve side against Almere City in the second-tier league last Saturday.

A day later on Sunday, he returned to the club’s senior team’s match day squad for the first time this season for their league clash with Cambuur, but watched the entire 9-0 demolition from the bench.

The Black Stars of Ghana will be pleased to see one of their best players back on the field ahead of their 2022 Fifa World Cup qualification double-header against Zimbabwe next month. He missed their two opening games against Ethiopia and South Africa earlier this month.
