The KwaZulu Natal Premier’s Cup will present six professional football teams with an opportunity to gauge their preparedness for the new season in both the DStv Premiership and GladAfrica Championship.

The pre-season tournament comes back this year after it was suspended in 2020 because of Covid-19.

The Premier Soccer League had already released fixtures for both leagues in what promises to be an exciting season.

The provincial government announced their plans to host two events in the coming weeks on Monday.

“MEC for Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation Hlengiwe Mavimbela will on Tuesday, 3 August, unveil plans for hosting of two major events in KwaZulu-Natal at a media briefing to be held at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

“MEC Mavimbela will outline plans for the hosting of the KZN Premier’s Cup and the Dundee July as part of efforts to uplift the mood of the Province and contribute to economic growth through sport.

“The launch event will be conducted in two segments, starting with the draw for the Premier’s Cup scheduled for this weekend 7 to 8 August 2021 at Chatsworth Stadium.

“The MEC will be joined by coaches from the six KZN professional teams that will participate in the Premier’s Cup.

“Thereafter, MEC Mavimbela will be joined by Traditional Horse Racing stakeholders who will share the state of readiness for the Dundee July event scheduled for 14 August 2021,” read the statement.
