Chippa United skipper Augustine Kwem remains a crucial figure with his velvet touches coupled with metronomic qualities that have come to the fore in recent seasons.
The Nigerian international provides assists while plundering goals for his side, but also a genuine leader on the pitch.
The 23-year-old centre forward says the ‘Chilli Boys’ are in high spirits ahead of their DStv Premiership encounter with Mamelodi Sundowns at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday.
“Obviously, they tend to keep the ball like we do. I believe that we will match them because they also play a possession game just like us,” Kwem explains.
The Port Elizabeth-based outfit sit 11th on the log standings with 13 points from 13 outings, while Masandawana are on the summit of the table with 30 points after 14 games.
“It will be tactical but as a team, we are positive for the game,” he adds.
“It’s motivating seeing team score goals in the last few matches that we’ve played. The team has been gelling under coach Dan Malesela.”
Kwem admits having been on the road for most of January has affected them but they managed to put in a great fight.
“Travelling has been hectic this month, and this is part of the sacrifice that the team has had to make during this pandemic. It is motivating to get some great away results.”
The match kicks off at 3:30 in the afternoon.
