KZN teams dominate PSL awards nominees


The Premier Soccer League has announced the nominees for individual accolades in the 2020/21 Dstv Premiership season.

In all the Dstv Premiership nominees there is an individual from the KwaZulu Natal teams, be it a player or a coach.

AmaZulu and Golden Arrows have tremendously improved this season as they occupy second and third position on the log respectively.

There are individuals from both teams who have lready clinched accolades for player and coach of the month and both teams have walked away with Q-innovation prizes.

Maritzburg United players have also stood up to be counted as they are slowly moving away from the relegation zone.

Leading the charts with most Dstv Premiership nominees from the three KZN teams is Usuthu, with five nominations.

Included in the nominations is coach Benni McCarthy, for the coach of the season gong, Veli Mothwa for the goalkeeper of the season award, Tapelo Xoki for the defender of the season award, while Makhehleni Makhaula will battle it out for midfielder of the season.

Young striker Lindokuhle Zungu has also been nominated for the Dstv Diski Challenge Rewired Player of the Tournament.

The Team of Choice have three nominations with Thabiso Kutumela nominated for both the Footballer of the Season award and Players’ Player of the season and Bongokuhle Hlongwane nominated for the Younger Player of the Season award.

Arrows also have coach Mandla Ncikazi for coach of the season, Sifiso Mlungwana for the goalkeeper of the season award.
