With five rounds of GladAfrica Championship football remaining, the title contention looks like a two horse race.
Richards Bay have maintained their lead with a two-point gap over Royal AM who are second with 40 points.
The Natal Rich Boyz played to a 2-2 draw against Sekhukhune United FC at Umhlathuze Sports Complex to remain at the top.
Meanwhile, Maritzburg-based Royal AM thumped Uthongathi FC 3-1 in a KwaZulu Natal derby at Chatsworth Stadium yesterday, to keep pressure on the table toppers.
The likes of Sekhukhune United, Free State Stars, JDR FC and TS Sporting remain dark horses as they all have 37 points.
Richards Bay will have to dig deep if they are to remain at the summit of the GladAfrica Championship as they still have to face tough opponents like TS Sporting and JDR in their remaining matches.
Royal AM also have the likes of University of Pretoria and TS Sporting to play against as they look to pile pressure on the log leaders.
There’ll be some interesting matches towards the end of the season, with dark horses and title favorites having to face each other.
It will be interesting to see how the league finishes, coaches will have their work cut out in terms of keeping their teams focused.
