Gareth Bale made a welcome return to the starting line up after 4 matches out of the squad as Real Madrid thrashed Osasuna 4-1 on Sunday at El Sadar to maintain their 3-point lead at the top of La Liga log standings.
Barcelona, meanwhile, remain 2nd after their 3-2 win over Real Betis.
Isco and Sergio Ramos in the first half and Lucas Vázquez and Jović in the second, found the back of the net for Madrid. The Welsh international assisted Isco’s equaliser which happened to be his 50th goal in Madrid colours.
Osasuna took a surprise lead through Unai Garcia.
Speaking to the media at the press conference after his team’s comfortable win over Osasuna, Zinedine Zidane said that they haven’t won anything, but these are three very important points. “I’m pleased with all the players and what they’re doing,” said Zidane.
“It’s very good to stay in front.”
Zidane also mentioned that he was happy with Bale’s performance in what was only his 3rd game of the year.
“I’m pleased with his performance and he gave it his all defensively and in attack. He came off because he lacked a bit physically at the end. He’ll give us an awful lot before the end of the season, and we’ll be using him.
“People want there to be a problem but there isn’t one. He did well, offensively and defensively he gave everything. He was a bit short of fitness at the end, so he came off,” added Zidane.
“We know the player he is and that he will give a lot from now until the end of the season. Let’s count on Gareth,” concluded the Madrid mentor.
