Lebese display man of the match performance


George Lebese opened his goal scoring account for his United Soccer League (USL) Championship side the Colorado Springs Switchbacks during a league match on Sunday morning.

It was a fourth appearance for Lebese who joined the second tier side from Mamelodi Sundowns in December.

The 31-year-old stepped up and calmly slotted the penalty into the bottom corner, sending Slayton the wrong direction for his first goal with the Switchbacks in the 57th minute.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs winger was voted man of the match.

Switchbacks however, lost 2-1 after a stoppage-time goal in the rematch against the Real Monarchs SLC.

Lebese’s club will be on the road next to face El Paso Locomotive FC on Saturday, 8 August and New Mexico United on August 15.
