TS Galaxy marksman Wayde Lekay hopes the 3-0 victory over Maritzburg United last week at Harry Gwala Stadium is proof that his side is back to their best after a poor start to the DStv Premiership season.
Lekay, who netted his second goal of the campaign against the ‘Team of Choice’, is brimming with confidence and calling for consistency as Galaxy will meet Orlando Pirates on Tuesday afternoon in Soweto.
“It is a great feeling to win again and get three points after so many games without a win. It is going to be very key for us to go out there and show consistency against Pirates this coming Tuesday,” said Lekay.
“It becomes very important for us to pick up three points because we don’t want to see ourselves in that last position once again.”
‘The Rockets’ are 13th on the log standings after 12 league outings with two wins, five draws and five defeats.
“It is hard to be at the bottom of the table. It is hard to deal with that feeling on a daily basis knowing that you are bottom but with the quality in the squad, we always knew that at some point we will be able to turn the table around,” added the Galaxy striker.
“With the great attitude and mindset, we will do it. That’s what the coach told us. Each and every one of us believed that. I believe that we will get out of that relegation zone. We will climb the table from here.”
Pirates have been blowing hot and cold but Lekay doesn’t want to read too much in to that. “I don’t believe that form determines anything. It is going to be a tough game,” he said.
“We all know that. It is going to take a lot for us to win that game. We have to go out there with the right mindset and forget about what they are doing and focus on ourselves.
“As soon as we can get into the right areas and score the goals and play with a good mindset, it is there for the taking,” concluded Lekay.
