Baroka head coach Matsimela Thoka is anticipating a tough encounter against neighbours Black Leopards in the DStv Premiership Limpopo derby taking place at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
Leopards are coming from a 2-1 win in the Nedbank Cup against Jomo Cosmos, but still languish bottom of the log, eight points behind Bakgaga who are 10th.
Baroka only have one win in their last 11 matches and are winless in their last five.
“It’s a derby game. It is not going to be easy for us, they’re desperate and looking for points so we expect a very tough match, but we are ready for them,” Thoka told FARPost.
Baroka last won a home match in December last year and Thoka hopes that luck will be on their side this time around.
“We must make sure that we collect the points because it has been long since our win, more especially at home. It has been long since we are on 17 points and we need to increase to 20 from 17 games, so I think it will be a good tally for the team. We will remain with 13 games to finish the season so out of the 13, I think we are going to collect more points and put the team in the top 8.
“They (Leopards) still have the confidence after winning their Nedbank Cup game against Jomo Cosmos but their momentum may be low because they have not played since then. We still have the match fitness but they also have fresh legs but we expect a tough game from those guys,” he said.
The match starts at 17:00.
