Black Leopards began their relegation/promotion playoffs campaign with a hard-fought 1- win over Ajax Cape Town at FNB Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

In the opening exchanges, both teams tried to establish dominance, although there were very few chances at either end. Ajax edged the possession stake but weren’t creating openings in the final third.

Nonetheless, Leopards hit the front through Mwape Musonda just before the water break in the 24th minute

With that said, Ajax’s best effort came a few minutes later, with Rodrick Kabwe’s powerful shot from range forced King Ndlovu into a good save.

After the interval, Leopards weathered a storm from ‘The Urban Warriors’ with Ndlovu making a number of fine saves as the Limpopo side collected three valuable points in the play-offs.

Leopards will next face rivals, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzibhandila  (TTM) on Saturday at the Bidvest Stadium.
