South African midfielder Khanya Leshabela played an hour for English Premier League side Leicester City as they defeated Birmingham City 2-0 in a preseason friendly on Wednesday afternoon.
Second-half goals from Hamza Choudbury and Mark Albrighton were enough to secure victory for the ‘Foxes’.
The 20-year-old was deployed on the left side of defence as part of coach Brendan Rodger’s plan to improve his defensive abilities.
This is Leshabela’s second full preseason with the first team as he pushes to break into the coaches plans for next season.
With two years left on his current contract, the midfielder will be hoping to start playing regular first-team football going forward.
But it remains to be seen if he will stay with the former premier league champions or they will decide to loan him out for him to get more minutes and experience under his belt.
