For those who missed it, Mamelodi Sundowns skipper Hlompho Kekana has been nominated for the FIFA Puskas Award.
The award is given to the best goal scored during the year at the Best FIFA Football Awards. The strike that got the nod for “KK” was the one against Cape Town City in August 2019. The same goal won the PSL 2019/20 Goal of the Season.
This is not the first time the Masandawana skipper has been nominated for the Puskas award. In 2016 he was also part of this prestigious group, but lost out to Malaysian striker Mohd Faiz Subri.
In this year’s award, he is up against the likes of Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez as well as Son Heung-Min from South Korea.
Voting is open to the public on FIFA.com until the 9th of December and the winners will be announced on the 11th December 2020.
