The Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) has sent its heartfelt condolences to the families of Rethabile Marake and Relebohile Hlaele who passed on last week.
Marake is the former Lesotho junior national team goalkeeper, who represented the country mostly in Cosafa tournaments, whereas Hlaele was an infuential figure for Dion FC
The LeFA made the announcement on Monday and expressed shock at the tragic events.
“The Lesotho Football Association has learnt with shock and sadness of the passing away of two football players in Relebohile Hlaele of Dion FC, who lost his life after he was struck by lightning playing for his team in a Christmas tournament held in Machache, as well as former National Under-17 and Under-20 goalkeeper Rethabile Marake, who was reported to have been stabbed to death on Christmas day.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the two families, their clubs and football family in general. May God give them strength as they come to terms with the death of their beloved sons.”
